The idea for
this blog was first born many years ago, but due to a lack of time, never took
form. But when it became required to create a blog for my Digital Audiences
course, I no longer had an excuse. Hacking High School is a blog that will
focus on how technology can be successfully integrated into a high school
classroom. While many teachers frown upon social media and the use of cell
phones, I actually believe they, if utilized correctly, can serve as an
additional tool to aid in the success of students.
For the purpose
of this assignment, the blog posts will focus primarily on social media and its
role within a high school environment. Today’s students are masters at
maintaining Snapchat streaks, gaining followers on Instagram, and becoming
TikTok famous. But do they truly understand social media? Through these blog
posts, I plan to share some ways that teachers can use social media to their
advantage.
